Is a recycled content target of 15% within reach for Europe?

On June 17, EU environment ministers adopted the Council’s General Approach on the Waste Framework Directive (WFD).

Resortecs' new study on recycling content targets highlights the following points:

  1. Resortecs welcomes the council's decision and embraces the need for separate textile waste collection to valorise this material.

  2. The assumptions considered in Resortecs' study were built on the WFD efforts to increase textile waste collection targets.

  3. The EU is capable of setting ambitious recycled content targets in the ESPR, leveraging current waste management practices to enhance textile-to-textile recycling.

  4. Ecodesigned garments with recyclability in mind could reach 43% recycled content if we adopt design for disassembly practices in the coming decade.

Delve into Resortecs' comprehensive study to discover whether a 15% recycled content target is within reach.
